We just wanted to make you aware of a potential cyber security threat known as BEC (Business Email Compromise).

There are several forms of this threat but one they we have become aware of several times recently involves hackers that compromise a vendor’s email account and through it have access to legitimate invoices. They then edit contact and bank details on those invoices and send them to customers with the compromised email account. The customer pays the invoice, thinking they are paying the vendor, but instead send that money to the hackers’ bank accounts.

The link below provides more information including ways to protect your business from this threat.  This includes being aware of unexpected changes in bank accounts of your suppliers and confirm any change of bank accounts or payment details by calling the supplier directly.
